Metal NFC business cards in the UK

A metal card is the one people remember holding. Here is what you get from a Nexus metal card, what it costs in the UK, and how it compares with PVC and wood.

A Nexus metal card costs £46.99 including VAT, is delivered in 3–5 working days across the UK, and opens your live Nexus profile when someone taps it with their phone. The profile itself is free, so the card is a one-off purchase with nothing else to pay unless you choose a plan.

Metal is the heaviest and most striking of our three materials. It suits senior roles, client-facing teams and anyone whose first meeting matters, because the card does part of the introducing before you say a word.

What makes a metal NFC card different

Every Nexus card works the same way: an NFC chip and antenna inside, and a QR code as a backup. What changes with metal is the feel. The card is noticeably heavier than plastic, cool to the touch, and finished by laser, so your name and logo are etched into the surface rather than printed on top.

Metal also changes how the card is built. Solid metal gets in the way of the radio signal a phone uses to read NFC, so metal cards are designed to keep the chip readable. You tap it exactly as you would a PVC card: hold the top of the phone close to the card for a moment and the profile opens.

Etched designs

Laser etching goes beyond a logo. On the cards page you can see the fine patterns we etch on the back of metal cards, from guilloche lines like those on banknotes to contours, sunbursts, waves and lattices. Your name, title and company sit on the front; the pattern and QR code sit on the back.

  • Four finishes: black, silver, gold and rose.
  • Your logo etched once, in a single tone, so it reads clearly from across a table.

If you are ordering for a whole team, a common pattern is metal for partners or directors and PVC for everyone else, all opening the same branded company profile. The materials guide covers each finish in more detail.
